African reality
Leapfrogging, under constraint
Lean infrastructure, informal economies, data-sparse markets and evolving regulation — African businesses are adopting AI in conditions that demand frugal engineering, not flagship slides.
Executive expedition · Jul 2026
A 7-day, on-the-ground expedition for African executives — purpose-built to translate China's live AI laboratory into decisions your team can act on back home.
Context
African businesses are adopting AI under lean infrastructure, data-sparse markets and evolving regulation. China has scaled AI under many of the same pressures. The expedition is built on that overlap.
African reality
Lean infrastructure, informal economies, data-sparse markets and evolving regulation — African businesses are adopting AI in conditions that demand frugal engineering, not flagship slides.
Chinese reality
China has scaled AI under many of the same pressures — cost sensitivity, uneven data, rapid regulation, non-Western ecosystems — across finance, manufacturing, healthcare, education and public services.
The expedition
A 7-day on-the-ground program that connects what Chinese operators actually did to the decisions African leaders are facing now — in regulation, tech adoption, sector strategy and organisational change.
Why this matters for African leaders
Sit with Chinese regulators, operators and scholars working on real AI governance questions — and take back insight African policy shapers can use proactively rather than reactively.
See how Chinese AI is physically produced, integrated and deployed. Plan realistic tech adoption without Africa having to absorb the full cost of trial-and-error.
Identify AI tools designed for scale under tight infrastructure and cost constraints — a natural fit for African operating environments where margin and uptime are non-negotiable.
Learn how early AI in China worked around unstructured data, informal economies and infrastructure gaps — many of the same challenges shaping Africa's AI adoption today.
Healthcare, education, manufacturing, financial inclusion, public services — China's AI deployments in these sectors translate directly into the needs and gaps African economies are now tackling.
Frontier AI labs and AI-adopting enterprises across three cities — selected for their relevance to African business contexts. Final list is curated per cohort or custom brief.

Signature experiences
Beyond boardrooms and lab tours, we curate hands-on experiences that let you feel how the full spectrum of Chinese frontier tech — AI, robotics, autonomy, advanced manufacturing — lives in everyday life. Paired with exclusive cultural moments you won’t find on any itinerary: from the air above Shenzhen to a private tea ceremony by West Lake.
Lift off in an autonomous eVTOL with EHang and feel what low-altitude mobility looks like before it reaches the rest of the world.
Walk the floor of one of China's most advanced robotics hubs — humanoids, quadrupeds and manipulators in motion.
Inside a working smart factory where AI vision, robotics and real-time data orchestrate every line.
Everyday AI in the wild — consumer devices, smart homes and EVs already part of daily Chinese life.
The world's densest hardware bazaar — raw components to finished products in a single city block.
Close the day with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony on the shores of West Lake — a slow moment to process what you've seen.
What you can expect
The expedition is exceptionally well structured. In just a few days, you will gain direct exposure to China's frontier AI companies and to enterprises actually deploying AI in production — and develop a much clearer understanding of how this market builds, buys, and operates AI, with every briefing framed against African operating conditions.
Detailed Information
A 7-day immersive expedition across China's AI frontier — and the industries already running on it.
China AI Innovation Executive Tour 2026 is a 7-day immersive program that takes you through an exclusive learning journey in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen. It offers a new perspective on scaling your business by focusing on frontier AI innovation and the most advanced cases of AI being deployed across Chinese industry — from financial services to manufacturing, energy, healthcare, education and the public sector.
The cohort is purpose-built for African executives. China is home to some of the world's most innovative AI companies, and it is also one of the largest live laboratories for AI in production under conditions African leaders know well — cost sensitivity, uneven data, rapid regulation. Every host visit and briefing is framed against that context.
You'll gain exclusive insights into the strategies of leading AI providers — names like Lenovo, SenseTime, Alibaba, Unitree Robotics, Huawei, BYD and EHang — alongside on-the-ground briefings from enterprises actually using AI in their core operations. The exact host roster is curated per cohort, with networking opportunities across African and Chinese executives, entrepreneurs and investors.

No. The expedition deliberately mixes frontier AI vendors (model labs, platforms, robotics) with enterprises putting AI into production — across financial services, insurance, energy, mining, manufacturing, healthcare, education and public sector — so you see not just what AI can do, but how it is actually being deployed.
No, international flights are not included. We recommend arriving at Shanghai Pudong (PVG) and departing from Hong Kong (HKG).

African passport holders generally apply for a Chinese business visa (M-visa) in advance. We provide invitation letters and full application assistance for both individual and group participants.
Deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability.
This is a professional AI industry expedition with curated cultural experiences integrated. The core agenda focuses on technology learning, corporate access and take-home playbooks for African markets.
